We Know: How to Buy a Shower Curtain
About Shower Curtains
In addition to being functional, a shower curtain can be stylish. The large variety of styles and materials for
shower curtains offers many choices for decorating a bathroom.
Optional Features for Shower Curtains:
A shower curtain may have one or more of the following features:
- Easy to clean. Shower curtains can get moldy or stained. Many curtains are designed to be simply wiped down
with a clean cloth.
- Color. The color of the shower hooks can affect the look of the
curtain. Some shower curtains come with hooks but you can also buy them
separately and choose a complimentary color that's similar to or contrasts with
the curtain design or color.
- Reinforced hook grommets. Grommets that aren't reinforced are more susceptible to tearing.
- Mold resistant. For those suffering from allergies, or who desire to avoid moldy shower curtains, consider investing
in a mold resistant curtain.
- Size. The standard size for a shower curtain is 6' x 6' or 72" x 72". If your shower is not the standard size, you
may have to purchase two curtains, or trim a standard sized curtain.
- One or two-piece curtains. One-piece curtains are usually waterproof vinyl or polyester. Two-piece curtains have a waterproof liner and an outer
curtain that is made of cotton or other material and is plain or decorated.
