Looking for new ways to get rid of facial wrinkles? Wondering what new products have been approved by the federal government recently?

There are several new products that have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) within the last few years. Here’s a quick summary.

We know: New FDA Approved Wrinkle Treatments

Juvederm

The newest wrinkle treatment approved by the FDA, it is a hyaluronic acid (a natural complex sugar) that is injected into the middle layer of the skin to temporarily correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. According to the manufacturer, Allergan, it can sustain results for up to six months.

Restylane

A new injectable gel, restylane has been approved as safe and effective for filling moderate to severe wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Studies showed that most patients needed one injection to get optimal correction. The effect lasted about six months.

Collagen

Collagen injections have been approved by the FDA for correction of soft tissue deficiencies such as wrinkles and acne scars.

Botox

Botulinum toxin has been approved for treating frown lines between the eyebrows. Treatments last from 4 to 6 months.

Other Treatments

Additional treatments approved by the FDA include topical creams, chemical peels, laser and electro-surgical resurfacing.
